My dear friend, Josie, passed away. She is not here physically, but I have talked to her all morning. I was telling her private nurse and husband, Guy, how much she had impacted my life.
If you really knew Josie, she was a very feisty and kind person with the ability to reach into your heart and mind. She was "one of a kind", and I am certainly a better person having met her and becoming bonded with her.
I have 5 sisters and they invited me to lunch when they heard the sad news about Josie. As we sat eating and talking, I told them that as far as sisters go, Josie was my favorite adopted sister of all.
Josie was there to encourage me when my husband had a heart transplant, and I counted on her phone calls. She was my cheerleader through this difficult journey. Her visits were always such a treat for me.
When her cancer reoccured, she had a master plan and with Guy she dug in her heels and continued to be Josie. The Josie that loved life and had fun and games with her children and grandchildren, cooking her big meals and having them spend time with her.
She could have become a prolific writer, counselor, teacher, and a great entertainer, but to her family, friends, and acquaintances, she was already all of these things. She and I could discuss life, the afterlife, husbands, children, grandchildren, and even politics. She was my beloved and special optimistic friend who taught me what was really important in life.
I am so happy that I met her! I will forever love you Josie.
